[M-IS27] Atmospheric electricity: Atmospheric electricity and climate change

Wed. May 25, 2022 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM 104 (International Conference Hall, Makuhari Messe)

convener:Yasuhide Hobara(Graduate School of Information and Engineering Department of Communication Engineering and Informatics, The University of Electro-Communications), convener:Kenkichi NAGATO(National Institute of Technology, Kochi College), Chairperson:Kenkichi NAGATO(National Institute of Technology, Kochi College), Yasuhide Hobara(Graduate School of Information and Engineering Department of Communication Engineering and Informatics, The University of Electro-Communications)

Tackling climate change is one of the key goals of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year's Atmospheric Electricity session will focus on observational and theoretical studies of atmospheric electrical phenomena related to climate change in addition to traditional topics in atmospheric electricity. This session will consist of invited presentations introducing above-mentioned fields by leading experts, and contributed presentations on the latest observational and theoretical research results. For example, we welcome papers such as long-term variations in aerosols and climate change, and lightning activity associated with extreme weather events caused by climate change etc. Besides, we certainly welcome papers regarding all topics on atmospheric electricity including lightning physics, lightning observation technology, electrical effects of thunderstorms, mesospheric transient luminous events (TLEs), lightning-related high-energy phenomena, global electric circuit, atmospheric ions, fair-weather electricity, lightning protection, terrestrial electromagnetic noise environment (e.g. wave propagation in the magnetosphere and ionosphere).
