convener:Atsushi Matsuoka(Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Niigata University), convener:Shin-ichi Sano(Graduate School of Science and Engineering for Research, University of Toyama), Chairperson:Atsushi Matsuoka(Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Niigata University), Shin-ichi Sano(Faculty of Sustainable Design, University of Toyama)
It is one of important tasks for the International Commission of Stratigraphy to decide the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Points (GSSP) for all stage boundaries in the Phanerozoic. This session offers opportunities to present up-date results for stratigraphic research and discusses progress for the goal. All aspects of stratigraphy, covering bioevents, geochronology, geochemistry, sedimentology, paleomagnetism, and science on form are welcomed. The Jurassic/Cretaceous boundary (JKB), the last system boundary among the GSSPs in the Phanerozoic, is highlighted.
