Advances in ocean-bottom seismic observations with seismometers, hydrophones, and pressure gauges have provided us with the opportunity to study seismicity, subsurface structures, earthquake and tsunami generation, and wave phenomena in offshore areas. Permanent (cabled) observatories have enabled long-term monitoring for these targets, and deployments of dense temporary arrays or fiber optic technologies have opened up the possibility of higher-resolution researches. Also, such growths of ocean seismology have invoked the community to create data processing and analyzing techniques. The purpose of this session is to share recent advances in the ocean seismology, such as seismicity and seismic velocity structure deduced from the seafloor observation, progresses in the development of seafloor instrumentation, processing and analyzing techniques on active and passive seismic datasets, findings of the generation mechanisms of subseafloor earthquakes and tsunamis, observation of the seafloor strong motion, characterization of ambient noise and interpretation of its sources, and all relevant topics. We welcome presentations by early-career researchers and students who wish to try the presentation in an international session.
