[AAS02-10] An evaluation of microphysics in NICAM using the vertical pointing 94 GHz Doppler radar.
Keywords:Cloud Profiling Radar, NICAM, ULTIMATE
There are some instruments to observe the vertical motion of clouds and precipitation like Doppler Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR, 94 GHz) and wind profilers over the Tokyo metropolitan area. The EarthCARE satellite will be launched, which has Doppler CPR and High Spectral Resolution Lidar (HSRL). The Joint simulator was developed to simulate Doppler CPR and HSRL on the satellite and the ground.
In this study, we evaluate the performances of NICAM using CPR and the Joint simulator. We discuss how to improve the microphysics scheme in NICAM using CPR.
And we introduce simulated CPR signals like the EarthCARE satellite using NICAM and the Joint simulator and discuss how to improve the microphysics after the launch of the EarthCARE satellite.
