[ACG45-P04] CROSS-SHORE MODEL APPLICATION TO HASAKI BEACH, JAPAN

*Keiko Udo1 (1.International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University)

Keywords:Beach erosion, Cross-shore model , optimal parameters

In Japan, coastal erosion is currently becoming apparent throughout the country, and the conservation of sandy beaches is an important issue. Udo and Takeda (2017) used the Bruun rule to project future beach loss across Japan, but the Bruun rule assumes unreal conditions. Development of more realistic model is necessary for realistic projection. In this study, the cross-shore model of Larson et al. (2016), which evaluates sediment transport between bars and berms in the direction off the shore, was used to reproduce topographic changes of the Hasaki Beach in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the applicability of the model was evaluated. For the Hasaki Beach, the optimal parameters were outside the range proposed by Larson et al. (2016), suggesting that the parameter setting method needs to be examined.
