Keywords:ocean wave, GPS buoy, ocean surface wind

Locations of ocean wave observation have been limited spatially so far. Small GNSS tracked buoys are being powerfull tools for increasing ocean waves observations. In addtion to ocean waves, ocean surface wind information is important for weather condition estimation, air-sea flux estimation, and wave dynamcs research. Therefore, we propose the wind speed and direction estimation method using small GNSS tracked wave buoys. The method was establised comapred with tower observation at a bay and applied to open water observation. The wind speed and direction can be estimated accurately in both bay and open ocean.
