[E-11-24] Feedback of reaction-mass transfer -fracturing during fluid-rock interaction and textural development

Atsushi Okamoto1 (1. Tohoku University)

The reactions between rocks and fluids (H2O and CO2) in the Earth's interior induce large mass transfers and volumetric changes. Therefore, the feedback of reaction-mass transfer-fracturing is more important than the reaction itself, when we consider the mechanism and effective rate of serpentinization and carbonation of mantle rocks with low porosities. In this talk, I focus on dynamic reaction phenomena involving fluids and the characteristic patterns formed based on observations of natural rocks, hydrothermal experiments, and numerical simulations.
