In 2020 - 120 years after the eruption of Mt. Adatara, we held a special exhibition "Adatara Volcano" with the cooperation of university professors and researchers specializing in volcanoes.
Not many locals in Inawashiro and Nihonmatsu know that the volcano erupted in 1900.
The reason is that few of the nearly 100 victims of this eruption are locals and have not inherited the volcanic disaster.
Fortunately, many locals were interested in this exhibition and learned about the eruption 120 years ago.
This exhibition has led to requests for classes at local elementary schools and for courses for adults, and the local community is gradually gaining a better understanding of the Adatara volcano.
As the role of the volcano museum, we believe that it is very important to succeed the local past volcanic disasters that are forgotten like this Adatara.
Mt.Azuma erupted seven years before Mt. Adatara erupted in the past.
And next year 2023 will be 130 years since the eruption.
In that milestone year, our museum will hold a special exhibition "Azuma Volcano".
