Seismic, volcanic, and geological summer school for kids (hereinafter referred to as SAMASUKU) is a science learning project with the theme of earth science and disaster prevention that started in the summer of 1999. Participants are mainly elementary, junior high, and high school students around the venue, and there are also participants from all over the country. Currently, it is jointly conducted by the Seismological Society of Japan, the Volcanological Society of Japan, and the Geological Society of Japan, and the venue is changed every year. SAMASUKU is run by planning committee members dispatched from academic societies, steering committee members who are continuously involved, lecturers who are involved in each venue, and counterparts of local governments, organizations, and corporations. Therefore, the website is an important infrastructure for sharing information of related parties, introducing and disseminating events.
The SAMASUKU website was set up when the project started. We have reviewed and renewed the purpose of setting up the website, the expected effects, and the objects to convey information. The role of websites and expected effects have changed significantly over the last decade. Since many staff are dispersed all over the country, it has been used as an archive for sharing information such as guidelines for holding and action plans of staff, and explanations of past holding materials and experimental programs. In other words, it played a role as a database for staff. On the other hand, in recent years, it has been pointed out that there is not enough information due to the increasing number of participants, application areas staff, faculty members, researchers, etc. being accessed to know SAMASUKU information. Based on these issues, I would like to introduce the renewed website and the prospects for future improvements.
