[G05-P01] Construction of "JGN Youth Network"
Keywords:inquiry activity, Kochi Prefectural Muroto High School, Nagasaki Prefectural Koka High School, Youth
Among Japanese high schools, Kochi Prefectural Muroto High School has set up a unit specializing in regional exploration learning called "Geopark Studies" for the first time in Japan since 2011, and is responsible for understanding the value of local resources of students and for community development. On the other hand, Nagasaki Prefectural Kouka High School has set up a "Glocal Course" from 2017, and has begun to carry out regional exploration activities. When Muroto High School participated online in the "Inquiry-Based Learning Presentation Meeting" sponsored by Kouka High School and introduced case studies, the students who participated in that time were greatly inspired. This is the trigger for building a youth network.
At the "10th JGN Conference " held in Oita Prefecture in 2019, we set the exchange meeting for four high schools (Muroto High School, Oki High School, Mineyama High School, Kuchika High School) participating in this conference. Students from the four high schools gathered to set up a place in a room of the public center to introduce the characteristics of each school and their efforts. It was only a few hours, but during that time, the exchanges between the students progressed, and even now, the exchanges between static and dynamic are continuing. In November 2021, Muroto high school students visited Unzen UGGp and interacted with Kouka high school students face-to-face. Furthermore, in February 2022, Muroto High School hosted the "UNESCO Global Geopark High School International Exchange Meeting". At the exchange meeting, students from 10 high schools in Japan actively exchanged opinions with each other.
As online conferences have become universal, it can be said that exchanges between high school students are gradually expanding throughout the country. At the "9th Geopark International UNESCO Conference" held in Jeju UGGp, South Korea in 2021, the youth session was set up, and the construction of a network by youth is also a global trend. In the future, we plan to set up a "youth session" at the JGN Conference held at Hakusan Tetorigawa Geopark to create opportunities for younger generations to interact face-to-face or online.
