The Nanki Kumano Geopark Guide Association is the organization consisting of those who have completed the geopark guide training course conducted by the Nanki Kumano Geopark Promotion Council and who carry out guide activities.
At the time of its inauguration, the officers responsible for the operation consisted of members of the Guide Association, but the secretariat was the Nanki Kumano Geopark Promotion Council. Since the opening of the Nanki Kumano Geopark Center, which is a base facility in 2019, it has become independent from the Nanki Kumano Geopark Promotion Council, and members including the secretariat are in charge of various projects under their own financial resources. As its main business, in order to exchange members and share guide knowledge, they are engaged in various social activities in their respective fields of specialty and interests.
One of them, "International Communication Club " aims to improve guide skills for foreign tourists visiting Japan to improve customer satisfaction and to interact with the regions where Geopark’s activities are inclubg carried out around the world.
The international communication Club currently has16 members and we're working together on Zoom to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. The activity is to devise a phrase that explains the highlights of the Nanki Kumano Geopark’s sites in English.
With the cooperation of an American man who is visiting Japan as an ALT, (1) conversational style, (2) fun and easy-to-understand sentences, (3) length that can be said in one breath, (4)It is an expression that you can read and understand, (5 ) Isn't it descriptive? We are trying to make phrases with these in mind.
A practical example
"Wow! This cliff is awesome."
"It seems to be 40 meters high."
"A few years ago, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Championship was held here."
"How were the rocks geographically made?"
"This amazing cliff was made of the thick layered sand on the shallow sea."
"You can see the east-west fragmented vertical cliff."

In addition, we purchased 10 Poketalk (AI translator tool) units by utilizing the activity promotion project of the Nanki Kumano Geopark Promotion Council, and assumed that they would be used in situations where words do not appear at once or where multiple languages such as Chinese are required. We are studying how to use it.
Future tasks are (1) to increase the number of Geopark-guides that can support foreign tourists visiting Japan.
(2) Consider interacting with the Geopark area of the world by utilizing online tools.
