[HCG22-03] Exploring the potential of RTK-UAV for visual landscape assessment
Keywords:RTK, UAV, visual landscape
The usage of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has recently gained traction in landscape or forest science studies because of collecting high resolution images with low cost. Structure from motion – Multi view stereo (SfM-MVS) that is three-dimensional shape reconstruction technologies using multi taken-image can build elevation model of the land surface. Moreover, Real Time Kinematic (RTK) techniques have made UAV more accurate geolocation and ones more precise elevation model. The digital elevation model has been frequently used for visual impact assessment with the GIS analysis since the 1990s. The previous research used not digital surface model (DSM) but digital terrain model (DTM), and potential visibility analysis was conducted. DSM from UAV gives ones to possibility to do further visibility analysis. Although the many benefits of using UAV, there were less study for landscape visual landscape assessment without monitoring landcover of landscape sites. Thus, this research reported to the exploring the potential of RTK-UAV for visual landscape assessment. The experiment was conducted on the Akazu research forest in Ecohydrology research institute, The University Tokyo Forests.
