Keywords:concretion, sealing function

Concretions are hard rocks made of carbonate and other materials. In this study, we have analyzed the hydrological characteristics such as porosity and hydraulic conductivity, and rock mechanical characteristics on hardness distribution of carbonate concretions in the Neogene Hayama Group Kanagawa Prefecture. As a result, it has been confirmed that the concretions have less porosity, hardness and low hydraulic conductivity than those of the host rock. Furthermore, mechanical characteristics of the inner part of the concretion has been harder and denser than that of the outer part.
