[HCG25-02] Simulating changes in wind-wave field along the Mekong River Delta induced by the Holocene coastal change.

Keywords:Holocene, Mekong River Delta, wind waves, numercial simulation

This study estimates changes in wind-wave field along the Mekong River Delta in Southern Vietnam taken place during the Holocene, where the coastline moved seaward for more than a hundred kilometer and the coastal landscape shifted from tide-dominated to wave-dominated type in the last ten thousand years, by using numerical models. The waves were simulated by combining paleo-morphologies reconstructed by referring to geological proxies and sea-surface winds estimated by a regional meteorological model incorporating the changes in land-sea distribution. The results obtained from the model experiments will be compared with strength and direction of the waves inferred from the shape of the paleo-coastlines.
