The word "lithosphere" has two definitions: one is geologically defined as the crust and upper mantle of the earth, and the other is geographically the solid portion of the earth especially earth surfaces and shallow underground. Both types of the lithosphere are related to human activities. For example, they are relevant to natural hazards, resource production, land use, and human mobility. This presentation reviews the characteristics of the lithosphere as a fundamental component of Human Geoscience.
