[HDS12-P01] Active faults and its regionality in Central Japan
Keywords:active fault, Central Japan, slip type, slip-rate, Philippine Sea plate
In Central Japan, reverse faults and lateral slip faults are distributed. Reverse faulting are recognized near the Suzuka Mountains and Chita Peninsula, striking N-S direction, and on the Byobuyama fault and Enasan fault striking NE-SW. Conjugated fault system are distributed in the mountain area, in which right- and left-lateral faulting are recognized on NE-SW and NW-SE sticking faults, respectively. It is possible that oblique-slip faulting and transition of slip direction during geological time-scale period. High slip-rate (>1 m/ky) are reported for the Yoro (reverse), Atotsugawa (right-lateral), Atera (Left-lateral), Neodani (left-lateral) faults, whereas slip-rate of other active faults are relative low. I would like to discuss these features of active faults in this area comparing with subsurface structure of top of subducting Philippine Sea plate.
