In recent years, invasive alien plant species (IAPS), that is, Opuntia spp. and Ipomoea spp., etc., have been growing widely in the arid and semi-arid areas of East Africa, as well as under similar environments in other regions., and the representative species is Opuntia stricta. The invasion process of Opuntia stricta in semi-arid areas of the Laikipia County, central Kenya, has been described in detail by Strum et al. (2015) and others, and Muthoka et al. (2021) clarified the distribution of Opuntia stricta with high accuracy. The purpose of this presentation is to attempt to clarify the expansion process of IAPS distribution and to examine its relationship with environmental conditions, including geomorphic processes and (anthropogenic) ground disturbance.
