[HSC06-09] Evaluation of injectivity of liquid CO2 in CO2 hydrate storage
Keywords:CCS, carbon dioxide storage, gas hydrate, containment performance, injection performance
Storage method use CO2 hydrate is suggested in addition to aquifer storage for the purpose of expand the best places for CO2 underground storage. Containment mechanism of CO2 hydrate storage is the formation of the hydrate seal layer, is not geological structure such as the mudstone. The temperature and pressure condition of the Japan peripheral sea area (deep sea floor) was found to meet a condition to produce CO2 hydrate. The main research themes of CO2 hydrate storage are as follows. ①Evaluate containment performance of the hydrate seal layer. ②Evaluate injection performance of the liquid CO2 in the storage layer.
In this report, focus on injection performance of the liquid CO2 in the storage layer. The injectivity of the aquifer storage ensure to inject super critical CO2. But by the CO2 hydrate storage, CO2 becomes the liquid phase on the temperature and pressure condition in the relatively shallow storage layer under the bottom of the sea. Therefore in order to evaluate injectivity of the liquid CO2 in the non-compaction sedimentation layer, get the data of the relative permeability in indoor examination and simulate. The case that inject super critical CO2 and the case that inject liquid CO2 are compared by the pressure response and the behavior of the CO2 plume. As a result, super critical CO2 move the behavior of the CO2 plume immediately, but the pressure response is almost the same. As a pressure response to act on the hydrate seal layer is the same, to inject liquid CO2 is proper.
