[HTT21-P05] On the Road Evaluation Based on Passage

1.Introduction
In recent years, the proportion of traffic accident fatalities has increased despite the declining population. Because the proportion of the elderly population is high. In order to reduce the number of deaths caused by traffic accidents, it is necessary to prevent accidents before they occur. We need to ensure safety by the development of walking spaces that contribute to the safety of the elderly, disabled, etc. in our aging society.

2.Purpose and method of research
When we travel to a destination, different people choose different routes even if the starting point is the same. It is necessary to pursue a walkable path to clarify path selection. We also think that ease of access varies depending on the type of use. The purpose of this study is to quantify and evaluate which combination of use patterns on which roads is easy to pass.
The research method is to use a questionnaire to investigate how the width of the roadside zone and sidewalk affect the ease of passage. Next, as a way to evaluate the road, we compared it with a questionnaire survey on walkability from previous studies.

3.Questionnaire survey
The questionnaire on walkability is conducted using photographs of different widths of roadside zones and sidewalks. The results are that the number of people who think that wider sidewalks and roadside zones are easier to walk on does not always increase. It seems that the width is not always proportional to the ease of passage.

4.Evaluation method
The speed of the usage form divided by the occupied width is used as the evaluation value. We use the maximum speed as parameter. The maximum speed for cars and large motorcycles should be the speed limit of the road. The occupied width of a car has the value specified in the Road Structure Ordinance by the speed limit. In the first step of the evaluation method, the maximum value is obtained for the road by A:(road width for each type of use / occupied width for each type of use) and B:(maximum index value for each type of use / index value for each type of use). Consider the combination of usage types as the maximum number of values that can pass through that usage type that satisfy A and B.
Next, evaluate the road by its maximum index value and area. The maximum indicator value is evaluated by the sum of the indicator values and the maximum indicator value for the combination of usage types. For area, the index value for each use type is used. Plot the index value on the Y-axis and the total occupied width on the X-axis in decreasing order of value, and draw an approximate curve. Calculate the area of each use type by approximate integration. Approximate integration as X = width of the road to be evaluated. The calculated area is checked against the total area of the road as a combination of use types. Evaluate the width, index value, and percentage of area used on an 18-point scale. If the percentage exceeds 100%, it is considered difficult to pass as Z.

5.Verification
In the evaluation using the index value, the score increased before and after maintenance on existing roads. In addition, the number of people who said that it was easier to walk increased in the questionnaire survey of previous studies. From this, it can be said that the higher the score of the evaluation by the index value, the easier it is to walk.

6.In conclusion
In this study, a questionnaire survey revealed that the width of sidewalks and roadside zones is not proportional to the ease of walking. The evaluation of walkability as the index value improved was the same as the results of previous studies. In order to improve the reliability and accuracy of these results in the future, it is necessary to obtain index values corresponding to changes in movement speed.
