[MIS04-P01] Development of a test method for the effects of cyclic dry and wet damage to archaeological stone
キーワード:cyclic dry-wet test、one-board microcomputer
Climate change on a global scale in recent years has changed the patterns of precipitation and temperature, causing damage to archaeological sites made of stone. In particular, the increasing range of temperature and humidity cycles is one of the factors that increase the damage. In this study, we have developed a method to evaluate the effect of external temperature and humidity changes on the interior of archaeological sites using a small sensor. The sensor is small and inexpensive (20x10x2mm), but its measurement accuracy is high. The sensor is controlled by Arduino which is a one board microcomputer. This kind of microcomputer can be easily programmed by oneself, and data can be easily transmitted to remote areas by adding a communication module. In this study, we embedded a temperature and humidity sensor in a stone taken from the archaeological site, and measured the effect of temperature and humidity changes in the laboratory on the interior of the stone. In addition, in order to evaluate the water penetration into the archaeological stone, we made a cyclic dry-wet (saturated) test and evaluated the collapse. This device was also developed by controlling pumps and other devices with a one-board microcomputer.
