[MIS04-P03] A study on the applicability of nondestructive survey in Taya cave
Keywords:infrared moisture meter, soft rock, Taya Cave
The fallen rock samples were collected from the wall of the Taya Cave. Those samples are formed 3-cm, 6-cm and 9-cm thick and immersed in the water for 24h, and then, weighed and calculated water content. During drying, the changes in weight and infrared absorbance were measured, and calibration curves were obtained. In situ infrared absorption values were measured as well. By using the calibration curve, the water contents were calculated.
These results suggest that nondestructive surveys for moisture conditions in caves are feasible, although the values were relatively higher than expected. The results also showed that the values of water content in this cave varies depending on the location.
