[MIS09-01] The relationship between lightning and the phenomenon of equatorial atmospheric waves on the Maritime continent

Lightning occurs due to atmospheric dynamics which shows a fairly strong updraft in the air with high humidity. In Indonesia, the emergence of cumulonimbus clouds that cause heavy rain and are accompanied by lightning often occurs causing floods and landslides. The maritime continent with wide waters and year-round sunshine causes conditions that tend to be humid with high convectiveness. Equatorial waves (MJO, Kelvin, and Rosby) are factors that also affect the increase in rainfall on the mesoscale which is often accompanied by lightning in the Maritime Continent. Previous studies have stated that equatorial waves will increase the convective index value significantly, but some MJO events only cause light rain with a fairly long duration. This study will find out the relationship between lightning events and the equatorial wave phenomenon that occurs on the Maritime Continent.
