[MIS15-P01] Influence of dam construction on vegetation change and river characteristics in the Oi river

The Oi river located in lower Akaishi Mountains is characterized by developed braided channel. Its quantity of water rapidly reduced after dam construction started at the 19th century, almost completely water disappeared in about 22km zones lower Shiogo dam. In the 1980s, the public movement spawned and partly succussed, but little water has been placed back even now. In this study, we investigated change of vegetation cover interpreted using aerial photos and geomorphic profiles obtained using leveling survey. In this presentation, we will report the influence of volume of water decreased on the surface conditions inside river.
