[MIS20-P06] GDGT based SST records in the Scotia Sea over the past 800 kyrs
キーワード:南大洋、水温復元、後期更新世
Southern Ocean is thought to play an important role in global climate and carbon cycle on the glacial-interglacial cycles. However, interaction between Southern Ocean and Antarctica remains uncertain due to lack of continuous SST record in the high latitude region. In this study, we measured GDGTs in sediment cores, U1537 and U1538 collected from the Scotia Sea during the IODP Expedition 382 to reconstruct changes in SST in the high latitude region of the Southern Ocean over the past 870 kyrs. The SSTs in the Scotia are Sea closely couple with Antarctic air temperature, SST in mid latitude Southern Ocean and CO2 over the past 800 kyrs, indicating a tight climatic link between mid to high latitude regions of the Southern Hemisphere.
