[MSD42-P03] Mission on Disaster Response, Base Map and Environmental Monitoring

*Tomohiro Watanabe1 (1.Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan)

We propose these continuous ALOS satellite series (both optical and SAR sensor) for large-scale natural disaster observation and making base-map information, and for long-term earth’s resource monitoring. As shown in the successful cases in Landsat series (U.S.A.) and Sentinel series (Europe), we realize that ALOS satellite series will contribute to boosting Japan’s presence in the earth observation.
In addition, as a sensor that contributes to the mitigation capability of forests against climate change, we propose a laser sensor that can measure the ground level under the forest canopy. In combination with an imager that can measure the area, or by integrating it with the ALOS satellite series, Japan is expected to improve its presence through highly accurate measurement of forest biomass.
