Japan Weather Association (JWA) has maintained and managed the infrasound observation system (MB2000, manufactured by CEA/DASE) in Chiba Prefecture since 2005, as a component of the International Monitoring System for CTBT's verification scheme. Based on such experiences, JWA installed and have managed the infrasound observations systems (Model 6000-16B, manufactured by Paroscientific, Inc., USA) in Iwate and Mie, and Aichi Prefectures for research purpose to apply infrasound technology to disaster mitigation.

On January 15, 2022, the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano erupted, then all infrasound observation systems of JWA observed the characteristic signals, which have a period of about 30 minutes (Lamb wave) and similar shape among all observation sites. In this presentation, we discuss the similarities and propagation of these signals over Japan.
