The author provided petrologic descriptions and conducted magnetic susceptibility assessments of tuffaceous rocks in the Miocene Sanuki Group in Kagwa Prefecture, Nijo Group in Osaka and Nara prefectures, and medieval stone works located in the southern Hyogo Prefecture, Southwest Japan. Based on petrographical observations and the magnetic susceptibility technique, some tuffacious stone works located in Awajishima is. were might be derive from quarries in Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture. No tuffaceous rock came from Mt. Nijosan, Osaka and Nara prefectures. The distribution patterns of the stone works in the study area suggested that most stone materials had been carried along coastal area of northeastern part of Shikoku area.
