Keywords:Geopark, Shimokita Peninsula
The land of Shimokita is formed from the following: accretionary complex formed about 150 million years ago, submarine volcanic product during thethe opening of the Sea of Japan, caldera product from the Pleistocene to the early Pleistocene, The Quaternary volcano and the sedimentary plain. In the Shimokita region, these appear in a relatively easy-to-observe form, and the formation of the northeastern Japanese arc can be imagined from the formation process of Shimokita.
These topography and geology and the existence of the three seas are deeply linked to the lifestyles of the people living in Shimokita, as well as the state of mind such as culture and religion. In this presentation, we will introduce the forming history of the land of Shimokita and how the topography and landscape created by it have been linked to the nature of Shimokita and the lives of people.
In addition, I would like to report on the formation of the land of Shimokita, which is being updated from the results of research conducted by the Hirosaki University Shimokita Geopark Research Group.
