[O08-P71] The transition of hills and rivers for the development of Tama New Town
Keywords:River topography, Embankment / cut, City development, Disaster prevention
In Tama New Town, where the researchers live, past development projects include large-scale embankments and cuts that flatten sloped land, and river improvement that changes the meandering flow path to a straight line. The researchers were interested in what they were told and decided to do research. In this study, in order to investigate the relationship between these topographies and the danger in disaster prevention, surveys of literature and old maps, and interviews with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Construction and Disaster Prevention and Safety Division of Tama City Hall were conducted. In addition, the researchers visited the place where the embankment was built, confirmed the characteristic shape of the embankment, and explored its dangers. Also, the researchers traced the old channel, investigated the transition of the river channel, and investigated the effects of the development on disaster prevention.
