[PEM10-19] On the improvement of generalized auroral computed tomography

We have developed Generalized - Aurora Computed Tomography (G-ACT), which is a method for reconstructing three-dimensional distribution of auroral emission and differential flux of precipitating electrons from multi-instrument data, such as monochromatic images taken at multi-point imager network and ionospheric electron density data from radars. We believe that this method will be more effective when combined with the ionospheric electron density from the next-generation multiple-site phased-array incoherent scatter radar system, EISCAT_3D, which is planned to be operated in January 2023. To apply the G-ACT method to the multiple imager and EISCAT_3D radar data, we are currently improving the method. We present the improvement of the G-ACT method and the effect of the improved method on the reconstruction by simulation. In particular, we focus on the following points; (1) the determination of hyper-parameters including the correction factor for relative sensitivity between imagers, (2) the reconstruction using multi-wavelength monochromatic images, (3) the reconstruction using the electron density data considering its temporal variation, and (4) the validation of the reconstruction result by simulation under realistic conditions. Furthermore, we suggest the data analysis flow separately for discrete arcs and pulsating auroral patches.
