[PEM12-11] Validation of FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 radio occultation by NICT-SEALION observations

This study presents a cross-comparison between the radio occultation (RO) profiles probed by FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 (F7C2) and the ionospheric peak parameters observed by SEALION (SouthEast Asia Low-latitude Ionospheric Network) of NICT, Japan. By comparing F7C2 ion profiles to the collocated ionosonde observations, the result shows that the NmF2 of the F7C2 performs better than hmF2 in the southeast Asia and Japan sector. The discrepancies in hmF2 have obvious local time and latitude dependent. On the other hand, the SEALION ROTI and S4-index observations in low-latitudes are also compared to the F7C2 RO amplitude and phase fluctuations and collocated all-sky-imagers. The conjunction observations of the equatorial plasma bubbles by L-band scintillations and airglow emission in the Asia sector will be further discussed.
