[PEM13-P09] Multi-day oscillations in the equatorial ionosphere during the 2019 Antarctic sudden stratwarming: mixed response to forcing from above and below
キーワード:Equatorial Ionosphere, Stratosphere sudden warming, atmosphere-ionosphere coupling, magnetic storms
The equatorial ionosphere is sensitive to both solar/magnetic forcing from above and atmospheric wave forcing from below. In this study, we analyze the ionospheric variabilities in the Asian sector during August--October, 2019. In this period, a rare stratosphere sudden warming event occurred in the Antarctic in September, and the geomagnetic activity also increased periodically. We focus on the multi-day oscillations in the total electron content (TEC) and the equatorial electrojet (EEJ) observed in southeast Asia. By examining simultaneous meteor radar observations of mesospheric winds along with the Kp index and the interplanetary electric field, we explore the relative role of geomagnetic activity and lower atmosphere forcing in producing multi-day oscillations in the equatorial ionosphere.
