We developed a simultaneous measurement system of electrical resistivity and elastic-wave velocity, and applied to Aji granite during triaxial deformation experiments. Experiments were carried out at confining pressure of 20-40 MPa, pore fluid pressure of 10 MPa and strain-rate of ~10-6 s-1. Electrical resistivity was measured by two-electrodes using impedance analyzer at frequency ranging from 10 Hz to 1 MHz, and elastic-wave velocities (Vp, Vs) were measured by the pulse transmission method at a resonant frequency of 2 MHz. Both resistivity and velocity change systematical during deformation, which is related to closure and developments of microcracks. In this presentation, I’d like to discuss how these physical properties are related to crack density and connectivity during deformation.
