[SEM14-P01] The UAV based electromagnetic soundings: the results and future opportunities

The rocks electrical properties are very important for the ore prospective zones delineating. The IP and ERT methods traditionally applied for sulfides mineralization detection in the promising area. These methods, of course, bring very important information about rocks chargeability, but they are expensive from economical point of view. This fact has motivated us to develop the UAV based technology to study the electrical section in the depth range up to several hundred meters. The technology based on semi-airborne CSEM soundings in frequency domain with ground-based transmitter and receiver on the UAV. The general idea was taken from the DESMEX project, however, the general aim was to make the technology to study large areas (up to the first hundred square kilometers). The developed UAV based EM technology includes the equipment, software tools of data processing and inversion and the data acquisition technique. The effectiveness of the technology application to study of geological structure and local zone detection are shown on the results obtained in the gold-prospective site.
