[S-SS07] Seismic wave propagation: Theory and Application
Sun. May 21, 2023 10:15 AM - 10:30 AM 302 (International Conference Hall, Makuhari Messe)
Seismic wave provides plenty of information related to heterogeneities in the earth's subsurface and its excitation processes. To properly understand and utilize such information, it is necessary to integrate knowledges from various research fields: e.g., mathematical/numerical studies based on wave theory, physical experiments using rock samples, and analysis of observational data. Furthermore, thanks to recent developments in observational techniques, various wave phenomena, such as seismic waves, acoustic waves, traveling ionospheric disturbances, and tsunamis, have been investigated. Comprehensive understanding of these wave phenomena will lead to development of new research fields. This session widely invites basic and applied researches on wave phenomena related to seismology and exploration geophysics, and aims to deepen our understanding of various wave phenomena in the solid earth. The research category may include elastic wave theory, laboratory experiments, quantitative research of inhomogeneous structure and wave excitation process in the earth, environmental seismology, and so on.
