On-site poster schedule(2023/5/23 17:15-18:45)
Volcanology and meteorology have much in common. Both require numerical models that accurately reconstruct physical processes and observations with high temporal and spatial resolution. Recently, the development of remote sensing techniques such as weather radar and weather satellite are remarkable, and they are being adopted for volcanic eruption monitoring. However, it is indispensable to verify the results of modeling and remote sensing using in-situ observations. This session focuses mainly on understanding the dynamics and elementary processes of volcanic eruptions and atmospheric phenomena in discussions between experts in volcanology and meteorology. We also aim to improve our understanding and forecasting methods for phenomena associated with eruption and cumulonimbus, such as ash fall, dispersion of volcanic blocks, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, etc.
