Zircon U-Pb ages play an important role in geochronology owing to recent advances in mass spectrometry utilized for rapid acquisition of high-precision zircon age data. In addition to zircon U-Pb ages, fission-track ages or trace element compositions of zircon are simultaneously analyzed and these multiple data derived from zircon are utilized for construction of chronological big data. However, zircon ages can record only limited geological phenomena depending on the occurrences of zircon and the nature of the zircon U-Pb system. To elucidate geological phenomena, therefore, the development of new chronometers utilizing a variety of minerals, such as apatite, garnet and monazite, and the applications of the novel dating methods to geological samples are essential.
In this session, we propose Hybrid Geochronology that integrates zircon chronology and insights provided by novel dating methods, and research presentations from all aspects of geochronology are welcomed.
