The record-breaking heavy rain event in July, 2018 brought about continuing to supply the warm and the moist air-masses over Japan due to the Typhoon No.7 along with a stationary Mei-Yu front, which resulted as severe disasters especially in Weston Japan. This study assessed the impacts due to changes in the sea surface temperature(SST) on the warm and moist air-mass supply over Japan brought about the Typhoon and the Mei-Yu fronts by using a hemispheric scale meteorological model, WRF. We performed a control simulation (CTL) driven by an SST reanalysis dataset, GHRSST, without a meteorological reanalysis dataset, by using the reproductive experiment constrained by a meteorological reanalysis dataset, NCEP/FNL for the rain event as an initial condition. The SST sensitivity experiments employed five patterns of SST, which differed -2K, -1K, -0.5K, +0.5K, +1K, and +2K to the CTL SST. Increased SSTs enhanced the supply of the warm and the moist air-mass in the Mid-latitude atmospheric boundary layer. On the other hand, we could not find any clear linear relationship between SST changes and precipitation amounts.
