[ACG37-P15] Inter-comparison of Himawari-8 and MODIS for measuring Sea Surface Temperature (SST)
キーワード:海面温度、Himawari-8、MODIS
Sea surface temperature (SST) is an important variable in the global climate system and is commonly used in numerical weather prediction (NWP), atmosphere, oceanography, fisheries and other sciences. Sea surface temperature is usually observed through in situ platforms and satellite remote sensing. The Earth Observation Research Center of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency in collaboration with the JMA produces sea surface temperature (SST) from Himawari satellite data.
In this study, the observation range of Himawari-8 is defined as the study area and the SSTs measured by MODIS and Himawari-8 at the same time and location are compared. As a result, although there is a significant correlation between Himawari-8 SST and MODIS SST measurements, the biases are different. Based on these results, we would like to examine the reason why the observation results of SST are different at the same time and location.
