[ACG46-P01] Modeling on future changes in the Arctic Ocean interior associated with the sea-ice reduction
キーワード:北極海、海氷、将来変化
The Arctic environment has experienced rapid changes, including Arctic sea-ice reduction and Arctic warming and freshening, over the past several decades. It is interesting to consider how the Arctic Ocean interior will change in a future climate with sea ice loss, yet future projections with climate models are still highly uncertain. Using long-term simulations (1958–2099) by a global ice-ocean coupled model, as a first step, we investigated future changes in the spatial structures of ocean heat content, freshwater storage, and circulation in the upper Arctic Ocean. The preliminary results are as follows. The model reproduces the climatological features in sea ice and water properties in the upper Arctic Ocean even without salinity restoring. In the future climate (2080–2099), there will be further warming, mainly due to the influence of Atlantic-origin water, and freshening of the upper ocean in the Canada Basin. In contrast, less freshening is suggested in the Amerasian Basin.
