[G03-P05] Development of position-sensitive radiation detector with segmented plastic scintillator.
Keywords:research activity, radiation education
With the spread of semiconductor photomultiplier tubes (SiPM), simple educational radiation detectors have been produced, but most of them are a combination of a single plastic scintillator and SiPM, which makes it difficult to separate particles and obtain positional information. Therefore, we developed an educational radiation detector that consists of a SiPM sandwiched between two separate scintillators with a layer of air between them. The position of the emitted light can be reconstructed by correlating the amount of light reaching each SiPM, and this enables us to determine the position of the radiation that has passed through and to identify the radiation type.
