キーワード:作庭書、築山庭造伝(前編)、要素、デザインボキャブラリー
This study focuses on "Tsukiyama teizouden zenpen", an illustrated Japanese garden manual written in the mid-Edo period, and examines a reevaluation of the book from the perspective of conveying basic knowledge of Japanese gardens to the general public and garden enthusiasts. Specifically, we focused on (1) garden elements and the stages of garden creation to understand the content structure of the book, and (2) analyzing and organizing the garden design techniques from a landscape operative point of view. We extracted design vocabularies and clarified the correspondence between specific operations for each element and their purposes to grasp the design content of the book. As a result, we found that the book contains all the essential elements and stages of the Japanese garden. Also, 10 and 11 vocabularies of the operations and purpose have been defined. It is cleared that the book is relatively rigid in ideological performance and flexible in landscape formation from the relation of operations and purposes. Consequently, it is concluded that the book would be a valuable introduction to understanding Japanese gardens.
