We have started to develop the worldwide database for observed tsunami waveforms called Tsunami Waveform Database (TwDB; doi:10.17598/NIED.0024) which consists of three separated sub databases. At the first, we considered to collect fault models as tsunami source information from various amount past references after the 1896 Sanriku earthquake tsunami because there might be observed tsunami waveforms after this event. The source information sub database contains fault parameters with rise-time in JAGURS format. After that, we conducted calculated waveform sub database which contains calculated tsunami waveforms using fault parameters and common topography and bathymetry data (Global tsunami Terrain Model GtTM) to clarify differences between different fault models and calculation condition such as linear- or non-linear- equations, applying the hydraulic filter, and applying effects of horizontal crustal displacement etc. Finally, we correct observed tsunami waveforms from some observation networks, such as the IOC sea level monitoring, NOWPHAS, DONET and S-net to compare with calculated tsunami waveforms and stored them to observed waveform sub database. By using TwDB, it could be performed the comparison of fault parameters and governing equations for all tsunami events.
