In these 30 years, earthquakes which bring huge damages, like Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Great East Japan Earthquake, and so on, are not rare incidents in Japan. However, it’s difficult to say that the preparation for disasters is sufficient. Cabinet office’s research (2022), which indicates that the furniture fixing rate is not high and increasing over a decade, supports our impression. There is also another issue not enhancing disaster preparation, which most information of preventing disasters and emergency training are brought when normalcy bias easily appears.

Our research is planned to reveal the best timing, contexts, and targets, to bring “Anxious bias”, which people are more worried about their loved ones like family. We assume that people who have young children and use nursery schools tend to have “anxious bias” more easily than others. We set some seismograph at three nursery schools with cooperation by Tsukuba city and Poppins Educare Inc.. In the research period, we send information of disaster prevention just after the earthquake occurs, even the earthquake scale is low, to check how parents’ anxious bias works. Our giving information contains information of disaster prevention and the status, safe or dangerous, of the building of nursery schools and is sent via e-mail to parents. Information of disaster prevention have three genre, useful tips during disasters, past disaster events, and goods information to prevent disasters, and are not only sentences but also graphics to make parents instantly understand.

In addition to e-mail deliver, we give parents questionnaire, pre-research, post-research, and several times just after small earthquakes. We will repot this result of the survey in JPGU 2023 soon.

This research is supported financially by National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience as a NIED funding project and technically by Tsukuba city as a city’s POC project.
