Keywords:active fault, Central Japan, history of faulting event, Paleoseismological trenching survey

We conducted paleoseismological surveys on the Enasan-Sanageyamakita fault zone in the Central Japan in FY 2022. This fault zone strikes NE-SW direction and separated into sections, a reverse fault in the northeast section (the Enasan fault) and a right-lateral strike-slip fault in the southwestern section (Sanageyamakita fault). We excavated paleoseismological trenches on both sections in FY2022, at the Kamitoge site on the Enasan fault and at the Higashishirasaka site on the Sanageyamakita fault, respectively. We will discuss the history of the faulting events of this fault zone based on results our surveys and previous studies. This survey was a part of the Comprehensive Research Project for the Enasan-Sanageyamakita Fault Zone by MEXT.
