Keywords:IoT, Survey and Measurement

When conducting in-situ physical measurements or laboratory tests related to the field of engineering geology, it is often necessary to use new sensors or to transmit data over a network. In recent years, small development modules such as Arduino, M5Stack, and Raspberry Pi have been used in a variety of situations. In the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of reports on research cases using such development modules in the fields of applied geology and geotechnical engineering. Understanding what can and cannot be done with these IoT technologies is as important as a geological engineer walking in the mountains. In this presentation, we will introduce some examples of Arduino, which is considered to be suitable for measurement and control, and discuss the prospects for its future use in engineering geology.
