[HRE12-P03] Methodology and prospects for automated detection of fracture developing in bedrock and rocks

Keywords:fracture detection, fracture trace map

It is important to accurately characterize fractures in rocks and bedrocks because they have a significant impact on the permeability properties of the rock. Cracks have been traced manually to date, but this is hard because of a lot of cracks and the accuracy depends on the person. Therefore, automatic methods to trace cracks using computers have been considered. However, computer methods have not yet been able to replace manual methods. In this presentation, we will discuss the past methods of crack tracing by computer and the methods using machine learning, which will be the mainstream in the future.
