The advanced CCS business model, which aims for commercialization by 2030, requires measures to set cost targets for the entire CCS value chain, including separation, recovery, transportation, and storage, and to reduce costs in each process. Monitoring systems for advanced CCS projects, which are responsible for the safe and secure operation of CO2 geological storage and long-term security to society, are required to ensure long-term reliability on the premise of cost reduction.
In this presentation, the authors will address the issues of monitoring systems in advanced CCS projects and will introduce their research on remote use of optical fiber sensors using AI/IoT, introduction of technology that contributes to lower cost and higher reliability of repeated 3D surveys, and experimental study on a monitoring system by combining Portable Active Seismic Source (PASS) and Distributed Acoustic Seining (DAS).
