[HTT15-P11] Isotope measurement of an ultra-trace element using 1013 ohm amplifiers
Keywords:isotope, ultra-trace, MC-ICP-MS
Along with the increasing number of studies on traceability using isotopes of trace metal elements contained in environmental samples, technical developments related to isotopic measurements have also progressed.
In order to respond to the increasing demand for isotopic measurements of these trace elements, RIHN has updated its analytical system and developed new measurement methods using these new machines.
Last year, I reported on an analytical method for sub-nanogram level Sr isotope ratios using TIMS equipped with 1013 ohm amplifiers (SHIN 2022), and applied research results using it are beginning to report. An analytical method for the Nd isotope will be reported within this section (HTT15) by co-workers.
In this report, I report the measurement method of Sr and Pb isotope ratio using the newly introduced MC-ICP-MS Neoma (ThermoFisher Scientific) with 1013 ohm resistor amplifiers. Conventionally, the measurement of trace samples using MC-ICP-MS was handled by using a desolvation device. Still, for Sr measurement, it was difficult to obtain correct results due to the influence of Kr-derived interfering ions (SHIN 2021). This time, I will report a new measurement of Sr isotope using 10^13 ohm amplifiers and Pb isotope with a desolvation machine and 10^13 ohm amplifiers.
