Japanese total population has been declining since 2006. The percentage of elderly people aged 65 and over (aging rate) is increasing. It is estimated that one-third of the total population will be elderly by 2050. Japan is about to enter a super-aging society. Housing, commercial facilities, hospitals and city halls are spread out in the suburbs. Population in the city center is declining and the city is becoming increasingly diluted. An example of this is shuttered streets. If this situation continues, the following will occur. If this situation continues, the following will occur. Decrease in convenience of life in the city, loss of attractiveness as a living space, decline in public services, increase in urban management costs, and increase in environmental impact. It is necessary to create a "walkable community" where it is easy to get around without relying on a car, and where urban functions such as housing and commercial facilities are concentrated. Compact city planning requires a unique regional character. In some cities with excellent traffic lines to tourist attractions, the nodes of the city are in disrepair. Most visitors pass through the node unnoticed. This situation does not benefit the community. The station is blessed with public transportation. It is the center of public institutions. These places are likely to become urban centers. We determine the direction of the community in order to consolidate the city into the station area.
We considered it important to know the impressions of the area and the movements of visitors. The purpose of this study is to extract impressions of the region.
The research method used was a questionnaire survey. The subject area is around Sakurai Station, Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. There are historical buildings such as shrines and temples there. The survey revealed impressions of the region from a variety of perspectives.
